Story time: So I used to like this place, a lot in fact. Good beer, good food, nice enough staff. Until recently. So my 80 year old grandad couldn't say a bad thing about this place before. He used to go there whenever he and my gran went out for a meal. Loved the place, he would also go there for a drink in the evenings a few times a week. Now I'll be the first to admit, my grandad can have 1 too many and get a bit opinionated but that's normally as far as it gets. Anyway, so my grandad was there for a drink as he does and the owner (Gail), for some bizarre reason decides to kick up a fuss about this video she has of my grandad drink driving... (my grandad lives just up the road from this place and leaves his car at home when going to ANY pub, he's old, not stupid.) So she claims to have this video and wants to make sure everyone else in the pub hears her, so shouts about it... my grandad asks her to present this proof because he knows she's lying about it. She refuses to show proof and continues to accuse him of this crime. People start to pay attention, he gets more and more annoyed and is finally asked to leave the pub. But having his name thrown about as a drink driver, he refuses until his name is cleared as he doesn't want people thinking this about him. He even asks to phone the police so he can get this all sorted out. At this point Gail (the owner) decides to ask her partner to physically remove him from the premises. So her parter does this, my grandad struggles and then my 80 year old grandad is hit and thrown to the ground outside. 80. Years. Old. So upset, angry and after a few too many, he concedes and asks if they can call him a taxi to get home. ( This is how he ALWAYS gets home.) But they refused and told him "No, you can just lie there on the ground." Now let's recap here:

    1. Grandad accused of crime
    2. Grandad disputes crime
    3. Owner has "evidence"
    4. Owner refuses to show "evidence"
    5. Owner shouts to all in the pub
    6. Grandad asked to leave pub
    7. Grandad wants to call the police
    8. Owner refuses to call police
    9. Owner has my grandad physically assaulted
    10. Grandad is left lying outside without help

I wouldn't be surprised if this gets taken down by the owner. So if you see this Gail, I'll be down this week to see this video evidence you have and if you fail to show me anything you can guarantee I'll be going to the police about it immediately. The only reason I have not went already is that my gran doesn't want the stress of it all. See you very soon. Let's see if your partner physically assaults someone who isn't 80 years old...

Gail and the team did a superb job, hosting me for my 40th birthday lunch at the Corbie Inn. The food was impeccable and they made everyone feel really welcome. The new dining area is a great space, allowing a big party of guests to be seated together and we were able to have a band playing in the corner. The kids enjoyed being able to play outside. We will be going back soon, partly because the kids keep talking about it. Well done Gail and very many thanks for making it such a success.

Had lunch here today with my six year old daughter. She had the chicken nuggets and I had the Corbie stack Burger which was really nice. Definetely worth a visit and great value for money.
